So much for being cute.....
I had a hilarious moment happen today I've been waiting to share. So, getting booked at The Cosmopolitan is a lot of emailing, contracts, rules, and red tape. Generally, when bands get booked they have what is called a hospitality rider. This is a contract of sorts that artists use to get their utmost wants and desires at each venue. You may or may not have heard tales of performers requesting fresh flowers, bowls of only green M&Ms, or dressing rooms set at certain temperatures. The Yes Team prides itself on being chill and low-maintenance. We requested a minimal amount of food and beverages. However, The Yes Team can be a little cheeky. We like to think we're pretty funny. At the end of our rider I requested 2 dozen high fives. The following is an excerpt from the email responding to our requests:
What are high fives? Not familiar with this product….

But first...
...a mission statement. We have a mission. Why not have a statement? Well...
"It's not just a band. It's a way of thinking. The Yes Team is a positive presence bringing unity through harmony. Yes Team, GO!"
Friends, Fams, Affirmators: We believe in what we're doing out here. And much like yawns, belief is contagious. Other people are believing. Most every night we play to a room full of complete strangers and after we're done they all leave saying the same thing: Yes!
We've been here for 2 weeks. It's wild to even type that. I feel worlds away from the world I created for myself. But lucky for all three of us, we are a team. We brought the East Coast out West. We're representing. And after we get our fill (we'll never get our fill but for now we'll say April) we're bringing the West back East.
Next stop, Vegas. Life is good.
Yes Team, GO!

Hot off the Yes Press!!!!
VEGAS, BABY!!!!!!
Sunday, Jan. 23rd - Tuesday, Jan. 25th
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
Book & Stage
10pm and midnight nightly
FREE!!!
In addition to excitement of booking a brand-new Las Vegas hotel, the significance of the dates require a bit of reverence.
On January 23, 1981 a tiny bird-looking child was born in Tulsa, OK. That little weirdo was yours truly. I've secretly been a little nervous about my 30th birthday. I mean, there's a lot of pressure in the planning of a 30th birthday. It's one thing to do it for a friend, but to plan my own? Clueless. Like so many things in my life right now, this birthday revealed itself and all it's glory with perfect unhindered timing. The universe just laid everything out for me. I will now be celebrating the big 3-0 in Vegas, with my band, getting paid, surrounded by family (real and road), and my best friends!! I couldn't be more excited. Oh wait, there is a little more excitement.....
On January 24, 1980 in Fayetteville, NC a small man-child was born. That man-child was the one and only Jonathan Walsh. Jo Jo will also be celebrating his birthday in Vegas, with his band, getting paid, surrounded by family (real and road), and his best friends!! He couldn't be more excited.
Teej will be celebrating his FIRST TIME EVER in Vegas with his band, getting paid, surrounded by family (real and road), and his best friends!!
Life is good, my friends.

Several days later at an old friend's apartment...
Alright, it's true. It's been a hot tic since I wrote on the ol' blog. Here's the thing. There's just soooo much to do that I tend to disappear in all of the online moves that need to be made! It's real easy to do that when you're rocking a brand new MacBook that you're 'rents got you as a Xmas/Bday present (THANK YOU mom and dad!).
The road is awesome. We hit the ground running when we got here, but I never imagined the pace that we'd keep, or that we'd be so efficient at keeping it.
We've played 8 open mics/gigs in 6 days for crying out loud (and it's AWESOME!)!
I realized recently that I over packed. I should have realized that I would only want to wear what was clean and most easily obtained, but I didn't. Now I've got this full heavy duffle for fun. Hooray!
Hmmm. What to say, what to say? Well, most importantly we're having a blast! We're making music, making moves, booking gigs (Vegas anyone?) and having fun!
Our gigs have been awesome! People respond to The Yes Team and our music so positively. I think that most of the people we play for are as into the gratuitous harmony as we are :).
We have yet to take a full day off to relax, but fear not, we are taking this Saturday off! We don't have a gig and there are no open mics to attend, so we'll attend the theatre of life. We're going to go to the San Diego Zoo and check out the animals :).
Oh, p.s., we booked three days and six shows at the brand new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas!! The 23rd-25th with shows at 10PM and 12AM. HUGE!!! The daily excitement that we feel is out of control. We are all so grateful for this opportunity and each other. When I was talking to my mom about it I got so excited that I became verklempt.
Here's a video of our morning faces if you've been missing them...
I really don't have much else to say for now :). Keep on keeping treasured listener.
Yes Team, GO!

Up, Up, and Away!
Let me give you a typical day in the life of The Yes Team.
8:30 - JoJo wakes up on the floor next to a man
8:31 - JoJo makes coffee
8:35 - Kinnie smells coffee and wakes up
9:30 - Kinnie starts breakfast
9:45 - TJ wakes up
10:00 - Breakfast! We are breakfast people.
10:30 - Moves, moves, and more moves!
11:00 - More Coffee! We are coffee people.
11:30 - More moves.
12:00 - Rehearsal
2:00 - Forget to eat lunch.
3:00 - Remember to eat lunch.
4:00 - Win over California
5:00 - Get purty for gig!
6:00 - Load into Purple Reign
7:00 - Roll in real hot!
8:00 - We're killin it son!
8:45 - Kinnie meets club owner and we book yet another gig!
9:00 - 2 out of 3 members enjoy bar beers.
2:00 - Fall asleep to Lord of The Rings
I know it seems like we've all been slacking a little on updates and video blogs, but the truth of the matter is we work all day every day. And it's paying off. As we check things off the 3 mile long To-Do list, this adventure will be much better documented.
What I will say is this. If The Yes Team is selling, California is buying! Everywhere we go, every open mic we play, every show we utterly destroy, we get the same reaction...

Yes! Yes! Yes!
Word is out about the three kids from New York City driving around in a big purple van sharing their music and love for Californians everywhere!
Let's recap the last 6 days.....we can barely keep up, and it hasn't even been a week!!!
Arrival: Wednesday
Paid gigs: Thursday, Friday, and Sunday (road gig in Huntington Beach)
Upcoming gigs: TONIGHT, TOMORROW, and Friday.
What?!
We're busy. We're excited. We have alarms set on our phones reminding us to breathe. The coolest part of this whole experience is the dynamic among the three of us. The workload is divided and conquered. Rehearsals are a high point in our day. We call each other family and mean it. We take care of each other.
We have brand-new LIVE recordings of us at Lestat's Coffee House. Check them out at www.reverbnation.com/ theyesteam
